Jimmy Guzmán’s Next Chapter Runs on Intuition

The Veracruz-born artist opens up about his debut album, organic growth, and why his next chapter is all about trusting the process.

Jimmy Guzmán is moving with instinct. The Xalapa, Veracruz-born singer-songwriter has been building his name through a sound that blends regional Mexican, urban music, corridos, and hip-hop, creating a lane that feels relaxed, honest, and fully his own. Now based in Monterrey, Guzmán is stepping into a new chapter with his upcoming debut album, Intuición, arriving June 25.

Speaking with KLYR, Guzmán described his music as something made for real moments, the kind of songs you can play while driving, chilling, or even at the club.

“I think if someone listened to my music for the first time, they would understand that it’s a very relaxed vibe,” he said. “It’s music for driving. You can also play it in the clubs, but more than anything, it’s for chilling.”

For Guzmán, the shift from dream to career became real when he signed with Lumbre Music. That moment marked a turning point, not just professionally, but personally.

“There was a moment when I said this was no longer a dream, and that was when I got signed to a label,” he shared. “Since Lumbre Music signed me, I haven’t stopped, and I’m still giving it everything.”

As Mexican music continues to evolve on a global level, Guzmán is part of a generation that is breaking rules and expanding what the genre can sound like. But what separates him from others, he says, is the way he lets things happen naturally.

“What distinguishes Jimmy Guzmán is the essence and the organic side of it,” he explained. “I always let things flow, experiment, and try new things. That’s what I base myself on.”

That same philosophy carries into Intuición, an album that Guzmán says taught him an important lesson about himself: he has no limits.

“What I learned about myself is that I have no limits,” he said. “Every song has a different essence. What I learned the most is that there are no limits in life. Whatever you set your mind to, you can accomplish, especially if you follow your intuition and your heart.”

The album also represents an evolution from songs like “3 a. m.,” “La Plebita,” and “Por Las Redes,” tracks that introduced fans to different sides of his artistry. According to Guzmán, that original essence is still present, but this time it arrives transformed and with more power.

“With those songs, I showed the essence that I started with,” he said. “Now, with this new album, that same essence is coming, but transformed and with more power.”

Collaboration has also played a major role in Guzmán’s journey. When speaking about working with artists from different styles, he emphasized how much he values the time, energy, and sound that each collaborator brings into the studio.

“What I value the most is that artists are giving you their sound and their energy when they come into the studio with you,” he said. “They take the time to work with you, and I’ll always be grateful to everyone who joins the Jimmy Guzmán project.”

One of those organic moments came with the remix of “3 a. m.” featuring Alemán and Gera. Guzmán explained that the collaboration was not forced, it happened over time. “The creative process with Alemán and Gera for the ‘3 a. m.’ remix was very organic,” he said. “Alemán heard the song and liked it. First Alemán joined, and about four months later Gera joined. I always flow and let myself be carried by what life brings.” That word, organic -comes up often when Guzmán speaks. It is not just how he describes his music, but how he approaches his career. Rather than forcing moments, he allows them to unfold.

With Intuición, Guzmán wants listeners to walk away feeling motivated to trust themselves, follow their dreams, and listen to their hearts. “I want people to feel motivated to follow their dreams and follow what they love the most,” he said. “That’s why the album is called Intuición. I want them to follow their heart and enjoy every song, because every song was made with love.” For Jimmy Guzmán, this debut album is more than a project. It is a statement of purpose, a reminder that the path does not always have to be perfectly planned. Sometimes, the best thing an artist can do is trust the feeling and keep moving forward.
